Lloyd, Green start a day of more medal success
GAYLE LLOYD and Kiara Green made it successive gold medals in the women's doubles after winning yesterday's Battle of Guernsey final.
It was a strong day for Guernsey on the badminton courts, as five medals were won, including two golds.
In the opening final of the day Lloyd and Green, who won the event at their first attempt in Aland two years ago, were up against fellow Sarnians Renee Stuart and Sarah Garbutt, who had batted hard through the earlier rounds.
Lloyd and Green were undoubted favourites and although they did eventually prevail 21-14, 21-17, there was certainly no gulf in class early on as the match's first 24 points were shared.
