Millions of pounds will only return old parts of PEH to '1970s state'

HEALTH and Social Services will ask the States for several million pounds to investigate a major reconfiguration of Princess Elizabeth Hospital wards.

Discussions about a potential overhaul began after it was revealed that £1m. would be needed to reopen Ozanne Ward due to asbestos and electrical and floor repairs among other items. The process would also take nine months.

Director of corporate services Richard Evans said the time and money spent would only bring it back to its '1970s state', which in his opinion showed why the department was not moving forward.

'We decided to hold off reinstating it until we'd consulted with users and decided what was best,' he said. 'It made sense to review it.
