Never mind the Combined Counties League football, Footes Lane will already be alive with the sounds of clattering sticks and the resounding smack of stick on ball at this weekend's Spearpoint Islands Hockey Tournament.

The Guernsey men's squad go head-to-head against Jersey, Bermuda and the Isle of Man, the Sarnian women against the same international trio, plus Orkney.

Previous tournaments have tended to go the way of the host side and Andy Whalley (pictured), player-coach to the Guernsey men's squad, is naturally keen that the same happens again. But it will be tough, he says.
