THE local GFA season kicks off in earnest this afternoon with action in both the Jeremie Cup and Priaulx League.

Rangers and Vale Rec both play host to Jersey opposition in Wanderers and St Peter respectively in the first round of the inter-island cup, while Sylvans and Rovers face off at St Peter's in a league encounter.

It is Rangers who appear to have the toughest job of the lot, as Wanderers are expected to be one of the two main challengers for the Jersey league crown this season, alongside St Paul's.

The remainder of the first round clashes will take place later in September, with the quarter-finals scheduled for 24 September.
