Parents want explanation of eight-year decline in GCSEs

PARENTS were surprised to learn that GCSE results have, according to consultants Frontier Economics, worsened in the last eight years.

Those approached by the Guernsey Press in Town were unable to pinpoint why that should be the case and wanted Education to explain.

Le Chene Hotel general manager Niek van Zutphen, who has two daughters, said that primary and A-level education were good and he could not understand why secondary education appeared to be less so.

Vet Doreen Ford said that as a parent the news was worrying.
