Whalley's four-goal haul at Footes Lane completed a stunning comeback for the victorious Guernsey side who beat Jersey 5-4 in the final having trailed 3-1 deep into the second half.
Yet the player-coach had not felt like smiling in the wee hours after being assaulted in a town nightclub and in need of a visit to A and E where he had three stitches inserted into a cut lip.
'Certainly winning makes it a whole lot better,' said Whalley after his virtuoso performance which undid Jersey.
