THE margin of victory may be slightly misleading, but Jersey deservedly regained the Challenge Trophy at L'Ancresse golf course yesterday morning.

With Guernsey looking for a hat-trick of wins, there was a definite determination about the visitors over the weekend and they got their just rewards, largely thanks to holing some crucial putts at vital times as they importantly edged many of the close rubbers.

'Perhaps it was just as well you won, it was becoming a bit one-sided,' joked Guernsey captain Dave Rowlinson in his after-match address.

His opposite number Steve Bowen replied in jest: 'As with the Ryder Cup when it is nice to let America win once in a while just to make it interesting, so we have let you win for the last two years. It felt like a long two years, though.'
