Annabel Bolt, who has just started her second year in the job, defended the school after it emerged that only 20% of pupils achieved five GCSE grades at C or above including maths and English – the benchmark used to judge schools in England.
Schools in England are required to hit a target of 35% to avoid being identified as failing.
Mrs Bolt (pictured) said her school's result could be put down to it being forced to replace four out of its five-strong maths team in the last two years.
