Watson defeated by Robson

HEATHER WATSON has lost to fellow British player Laura Robson at the Aegon GB Pro Series tournament in Barnstaple.

The 19-year-old Sarnian and the girl two years her junior have both previously won Junior Grand Slam titles but had never faced each other in a senior match before today's second round encounter in Devon.

Robson took the first set 6-1 and opened the second by breaking Watson's serve.

But Watson broke back, and eventually went on to take the second set 3-6.

Robson took the final set 6-3.

The tournament's second seed, Watson set up her meeting with world No. 135 Robson after thrashing Amanda Elliott 6-0, 6-1 yesterday.
