A MUSEUM, restaurant and music studio are just some of the ideas island figures have suggested for the slaughterhouse building after it becomes empty.

The States-run facility is set to move after a planning application was recently submitted to spend £1m. building a new abattoir at Longue Hougue.

Culture and Leisure minister Mike O'Hara believes the current building could be used for a place to store the Asterix wreck. He said it should be adopted for something that could benefit the island as a whole.

'Whether the building is suitable for the wreck would have to be looked at and car parking space for visitors would have to be taken into consideration.'
