Serious discontent that started with the department's handling of the road transport strategy more than a year ago has resurfaced on the back of yesterday's shock announcement which could see 50 people – predominantly drivers – lose their job.
It emerged yesterday that Environment was likely to accept an offer from the company to extend its contract until March, which would give the department more time to consider its options, including taking over the public bus service itself.
Jersey's service provider, Connex, has also expressed an interest.
