A DRIVER had a lucky escape when his VW Polo overturned in a two-car crossroads crash just after 10.30am yesterday.

It ended up in the middle of the road with the rear of the driver's side badly dented and the driver's window smashed. But the man managed to crawl out before emergency services arrived.

Four ambulances, two fire appliances and one fire car were dispatched to the Les Blicqs/Chemin Le Roi crossroads.

Ambulance and Rescue duty officer Andy Walford said the VW driver – a 46-year-old local man – had been lucky.
