THE lights on the first ever Tree of Joy at the airport were switched on last night.
Ten-year-old Imogen Wegerer pressed the button to illuminate the structure, one of two to have been erected this year.
The Tree of Joy is a Rotary Club of Guernsey initiative aimed at collecting Christmas gifts for deserving youngsters in the island.
The campaign is symbolised this year by both the tree at the airport and the one at the Weighbridge roundabout.
Rotary Community Services chairman David Parish said as there was a structure near the harbour the club thought it a good idea to have one at the airport too.
