A FREIGHT delivery driver has called this week's traffic jams caused by road closures some of the worst ever.

Dave Merrien, who works for Paul Davies Freight Services, said Thursday morning was the low point.

'It was backed up everywhere,' he said. 'Even though we were coming from Le Villocq area to a property in the north, we had to come all the way out by the Red Lion. It was still bumper to bumper – even then we joined the queue as far back as Route des Coutanchez.

'It affects so many people as everyone is panicking about getting to work on time, so even early in the morning there are problems.'

Fellow driver Nigel Le Page thought too many key roads had been closed at the same time.
