Struggling high schools to get special support

SPECIAL measures to support the island's struggling high schools will be announced shortly by the Education Department.

The department has so far refused to release any details, but the Guernsey Press understands that an executive head teacher will be appointed to help improve standards at La Mare de Carteret.

Plans are being finalised following the release of GCSE results that showed it and St Sampson's were underperforming.

The publication of an independent review of Guernsey's education service is also expected to be released shortly.
