THE company Environment wants to take over the running of the bus service faces a race against time to be ready in just three months.

UK operator CT Plus has until 1 April to replace Island Coachways, after it was named as the preferred provider.

But negotiations with the company, to agree its cost to taxpayers and what service it would provide in return, are still going on.

It is owned by social enterprise body, the HCT Group, and a group spokesman, when approached by the Guernsey Press yesterday, was unable to shed more light on how the lack of a bus garage for day-to-day maintenance and storage would be resolved.
