EXPERT teachers from the UK have been brought in to help solve the problems at La Mare de Carteret High School, it has been confirmed.

Geoff Cowley, who ran Gleed Boys' School in Spalding, Lincolnshire, for eight years, has come in as a 'school improvement partner'.

He will work with the troubled school's senior management team, led by head teacher Ken Wheeler and will be joined by two 'subject advisers', who will focus on improving English and maths results at the school.

Mr Wheeler told parents of the changes in a letter sent out yesterday.

'I am pleased to be able to inform you that we have welcomed Mr Geoff Cowley, school improvement partner, to La Mare de Carteret High School this week,' he said.

'Mr Cowley will be working with the school's senior leadership team over the next two terms on general school improvement issues.'
