PARENTS of pupils at La Mare de Carteret High School have questioned why it took Education so long to act on trying to improve GCSE results.

Head teacher Ken Wheeler announced last week that the school had appointed Geoff Cowley as a 'school improvement partner', as well as two 'subject advisers' to focus on improving English and maths results.

Parents said they were pleased at the appointments but said action should have been taken long before now.

Mark Guille, pictured, who has two sons at La Mare, said the appointments were potentially positive but hoped they would focus on helping students rather than putting pressure on them and the teachers.
