120 Sark people protest against newsletter

AROUND a quarter of Sark's voters marched in support of the island's doctor on Saturday and protested against the 'personal and vindictive' content of the Sark Newsletter.

A total of 120 people gathered at the Island Hall, many carrying placards and banners proclaiming their support for Dr Peter Counsell, who has resigned over comments made about him in the newsletter, a publication edited by Kevin Delaney of Sark Estate Management.

They then marched down The Avenue where they congregated briefly outside the SEM headquarters at La Collinette.

Although feelings were running high, the demonstration was a peaceful one. The news that it was taking place was spread by word of mouth, text and email.
