MORE young people need to stand for the States, a group of Grammar School Sixth Form students have said.

But they backed the current rule that says election candidates must be at least 20 years' old, although people are eligible to vote from 16.

Six students who will help at the polling stations at next month's election agreed this was the right age, but felt many young people were put off politics by the age of politicians.

The group praised Matt Fallaize – the current Assembly's youngest deputy, who was 28 when he was elected – but said one voice was not enough.
