Chamber president encouraged by poll interest among young

A LACK of interest or lack of faith in politics and politicians could be the reason why Guernsey missed its electoral roll target by more than 5,000, Chamber of Commerce president Julian Winser has said.
He felt it was disappointing that more islanders did not take the opportunity to sign up, however, he was pleased with the level of enthusiasm from young people for April's election.
Mr Winser's comments came after the release of figures showing that 29,745 islanders had registered, fewer than for the previous two elections.
'I think that it is hugely important that people vote and understand they have the capability and impact to make a difference in the island.'
