7DAYSHOP.COM has moved to clarify its restructuring announcement.
Co-partner Chris McQuaigue, pictured, said although 30 jobs would go in its dispatch department, 20 roles remained within the business.
'Some of these people have been with us since we started 12 years ago. It is very sad. We employ people long-term and don't have a high staff turnover. We are a local company employing local people.'
Mr McQuaigue said HM Treasury's decision to stop the VAT relief that applied to low value goods being sent from the Channel Islands lay behind 7dayshop deciding to review its operation, alongside high postage costs.
'We've come to the conclusion that we have to move our dispatch operation out of Guernsey to remain competitive.'
