WEYMOUTH Harbour's ro-ro berth is still unstable after three weeks' work, the town council said yesterday.

A spokesman for Weymouth and Portland Borough Council said it would now take the opportunity to invest about £2m. repairing the 80-year-old wall.

Weymouth's briefholder for environment and sustainability Ian Roebuck acknowledged how significant Condor Ferries was to the area, so the council would do it all it could to ensure sailings returned to its port as soon as possible.

Condor announced yesterday that it would not operate from Weymouth this summer because work on the damaged berth had not been successful and it still could not be used.
