LOW results at La Mare de Carteret High were avoidable and an appalling waste of talent, according to the new acting head.

Asked how the students felt about being in a school where just 12% achieved five A* to C GCSE grades including maths and English last year, Geoff Cowley said: 'The young people of Guernsey deserve much better.'
