Parents of La Mare Primary's Year 4 pupils will be eating Tudor-style food

TUDOR pasties will be on the menu for parents today at a special La Mare de Carteret Primary School banquet.

Year 4 students have been learning about the royal house and tried their hand at 16th-century cuisine.

Teacher Martha Vidamour said they did several big projects in Year 4 and teachers tried to get their students out of the classroom.

'This does help with their learning and it helps them remember,' she said.

The students last year made pottage - a sort of soup - but this year the pupils were trying their hands at pasties, with meat and vegetables at one end and stewed apple at the other.
