ISLANDERS will shape the future of 'their own' bus service, potentially including smaller vehicles and night buses, new operator CT Plus Guernsey has said.

The subsidiary of the HCT Group will take over from Island Coachways tomorrow on a two-year fixed-price deal, the price of which is yet to be revealed.

It means the company will absorb all costs associated with the contract's delivery but keep all profits.

HCT Group chief executive Dai Powell said the company hoped to be the island's long-term contract holder, with a goal to improve the service in partnership with the Environment Department.

Initially, he said, the level of service would remain the same, but he did not rule out key changes in an effort to reflect 'islanders' aspirations' for Guernsey public transport.
