NIGHT buses and a more frequent service are just two of the things that bus users called for yesterday.

It was CT Plus Guernsey's first day of running the island's service and apart from a few minor delays it seemed to go without any hitches.

Bus users welcomed the announcement from the company, which is a subsidiary of the HCT Group, that islanders would help shape the future of the service.

HCT Group chief executive Dai Powell said on Friday that the company hoped to be the island's long-term contract holder and hoped to improve the service in partnership with the Environment Department.

Florence Martel, 86, will use the bus more often in the future as she has sold her car. She travelled to Town from her home in St Saviour's and back on the bus yesterday.
