DEMOLITION has started on two houses near Rue de la Mare, close to the airport development.

A spokeswoman for Public Services said they had been in States ownership for a number of years.

'The larger house, the former Wesley Manse, has been completely demolished now with work continuing on the smaller house, Ashbourne, which is expected to be completed within a few days.'

Lagan has now completed work on its compounds, and started groundworks on the east grass area to make it into a tarmac apron.

'Investigatory works are also being undertaken to prepare for the runway's drainage requirements,' she said. 'A relatively small quantity of aggregate has been supplied by Ronez, but Lagan has not moved any aggregate to the airport until now.

'Starting from next week they will slowly start work to move plant equipment before any aggregate is transported.'
