JOB losses at Anglo Normandy Aeroengineering are not indicative of further cuts across the group and will not impact on Aurigny's day-to-day maintenance requirements, Aurigny Group chief executive Malcolm Hart said yesterday.

Speaking after the engineering company announced that it was to shed 16 of its 50 staff, Mr Hart said there would be no impact on ticket prices and the risk of delays due to the ATR 72s being serviced off-island would be the same as if they were being maintained on island.

'We will have to manage the process as best as we can – it's not a concern I have,' he said in response to questions about possible delays.

'The set up we have now is quite different to other airlines – it is not usual for airlines to have a sister company to do maintenance. It is usual for airlines to have maintenance done by a third party.'
