Commodore Clipper passengers - who were stranded in the UK by Thursday's fire on the vessel - began returning to Guernsey yesterday.
But many of them have left their cars behind in England.
The Condor Express was full as it arrived into St Peter Port yesterday lunchtime.
Passengers said Condor had been unable to fit any more cars on the packed vessel, so the travellers had decided to come as foot passengers instead.
The problems began after a small fire broke out in one of the thermal oil heating systems while the Clipper was sailing from Portsmouth to Guernsey. The vessel was forced to turn back. All 220 passengers safely disembarked in Portsmouth.
