YEAR 6 pupils could sit just two 11-plus papers instead of seven in the future.
The Education Department has launched a consultation paper and questionnaire asking for views on streamlining the testing process.
Reducing the number of papers is one of the recommendations put forward, but some aspects of the selection process would remain the same.
The consolation follows the Mulkerrin review of the sector.
'The department believes that the current selection process is too drawn out, too stressful for the majority of children and too disruptive to their education during Year 6,' said deputy director of Education Alan Brown, pictured.
