THE top honour at the relaunched Guernsey Design Awards 2012 has been shared.

The competition, which is a joint initiative between the Environment Department and the Guernsey Society of Architects and is sponsored by Norman Piette, was last held in 2005 but will now take place every other year.

Some 50 local projects were entered for the awards and after these were whittled down to a shortlist of 11, the judges decided that two residential properties should be joint winners of the overall accolade.

Designed by BAS Mooarc Ltd chartered architects, Etoile du Nord was created from an existing bungalow overlooking Vazon Bay from La Rue du Hamel, Castel.

Les Prevosts Farm at St Saviour's had fallen into semi-dereliction before CCD Chartered Architects took on the job of redesigning the 17th-century property.
