'BIG GAPS' found in ICT coursework – emergency plan to help students
Up to 112 La Mare de Carteret GCSE students have 'significant gaps' – including some compulsory sections – in their ICT coursework and face a frantic few weeks to try to catch up, the school admitted today.
Some pupils have now been left with serious doubts about their ability to progress in education, as the school has confirmed certain students were depending on the information communication technology grade to continue to A-levels or equivalents.
The Education Department has launched an investigation into the failure, to find out how it was allowed to develop without intervention.
An Education spokeswoman said it could not confirm or deny whether any teachers had been suspended as a result, although the department did not rule out the possibility of disciplinary action.
