A MAN rescued after trying to swim to Guernsey from Herm when he missed the last boat on Friday had been offered a room for the night, it has been revealed.
The unnamed individual, who was plucked from the Little Russel in the early hours of Saturday morning by the crew of a cargo ship, had to be taken to hospital suffering from hypothermia.
He missed the last Herm Trident sailing to Guernsey at 10.45pm.
However, the White House Hotel, where the man had been dining with a party of friends, confirmed that he had been offered a room for the night after the ferry had gone.
'We offered a room and we phoned a few water taxis but at that time of night none were available,' said hotel manager Sion Jones, pictured. 'He went off to consider his options.'
