PASSENGERS on board Condor Express described their horrific journey yesterday afternoon as gusts of up to 54mph struck the ship.

They told of cars being damaged, people being sick everywhere and goods from the duty free shop being smashed as the fast ferry struggled to make its way to Guernsey from Poole.

Bar managers Emma Dumper and Rob Gibson said the vast majority of people were sick.

'It was horrible, people were doing it all over the floor, everywhere, and it really smelt. Luckily, I took sickness tablets before so I was all right, but it wasn't nice,' Miss Dumper, 26, said.

Mr Gibson, 28, said a number of the cars were damaged during the journey.
