A woman who died after a carriage overturned in Sark has been named as Dora Jufer, aged 67, from Melchnau in Switzerland.
She was one of a total of nine casualties, including the driver, and the Ambulance and Rescue Service drafted in extra boats and personnel to help with the emergency medical evacuation.
The incident happened at about 12.15pm yesterday on the Dos d'Ane, as three carriages were heading towards Little Sark.
Canadian visitors Michael and Isabelle Seredynsky were in the first one.
'I suddenly became aware of the carriage behind us overtaking which, our driver remarked as it passed us, was very unusual,' Mr Seredynsky said. 'It sounded to me as if the horse was galloping. It went around a bend, we heard a crash and when we rounded the bend we heard people shouting and the carriage was on its side.'
Sark constables, Dr Peter Counsell and the Sark Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the scene.
Guernsey Police also travelled to Sark to help.
