A SOLEMN mood hung over Sark yesterday as the woman who died after a horse carriage overturned was named as 67-year-old Dora Jufer from Switzerland.
Evidence from the incident on Tuesday afternoon, including the horse's bridle, was yesterday brought back to Guernsey to be examined by police.
La Sablonnerie Hotel owner Elizabeth Peree said her brother owned the horse involved and it had been working all of its life.
The tragedy was felt more than 700 miles away in Mrs Jufer's hometown – Melchnau in Switzerland.
Mrs Jufer, pictured, was involved in several associations in Melchnau, including Green Mountain Melchnau – an organisation that promotes and preserves the history of the barons of Green Mountain and the ruins of the castle hill in the area.
