Our Heather is their darling

HEATHER WATSON was the darling of the national media yesterday as she received glowing tributes for her Wimbledon success.

The 20-year-old Guernsey girl, who today faces number three seed Agnieszka Radwanska in the third round, featured on the front or back page of virtually every national newspaper following her emphatic win in round two.

Many of the stories focused on the tennis star's pre-match ritual - eating smoked salmon and eggs for breakfast. Heather admitted she was superstitious so would not change the meal while still in the tournament.

Twitter users also came out in their thousands to show their pride in the local star. Former Southampton and England legend Matt Le Tissier tweeted his support and said Heather was doing Guernsey and Britain proud.
