POLICE are investigating claims that a bass stolen from the Aquarium was later used to win £800 in an angling competition.

An investigation into the disappearance of the fish, which weighed just under 14lb, was launched yesterday.

Officers also confirmed that they were aware of allegations that the same fish had been used to claim a top prize in the Bailiwick Bass Club open competition.

But investigators said that, while the allegation was forming part of their inquiries, there was at present no official link between the two incidents.
