THE Torrey Canyon disaster is still damaging local wildlife after more than 45 years.
A kestrel is the latest victim of the quarry where crude that came ashore from the tanker wrecked off Cornwall was dumped.
The bird was found covered in oil at Chouet on Monday by a member of the public who contacted the animal shelter.
Olive, as the kestrel is now named, will require several washes in the animal shelter's new sink, which stops 99% of hydrocarbons getting back into the water system.
Public Services confirmed that regular inspections took place at the quarry to contain and remove any traces of oil.
