SEVEN floats, a brass band, a dance group and a brace of vintage vehicles rolled down Victoria Street yesterday, delighting the hundreds of revellers who turned out to line the calvalcade route.

The calvalcade is the headline event of Alderney Week and this year's did not disappoint.

Paying heed to the Olympic Games theme of this year's Alderney Week, participants produced floats inspired by board games, Roman games and the Tour de France.

The winning float was the Campania pub's board games-themed effort. Team member Tina Dupont said: 'We've got 10 people on the team. It's a good team - we won last year and the year before. We took the idea of a games compendia and changed it to games Campania.'
