SWIMMER Duncan Goodhew sprinkled some Olympian spirit on Alderney with the loan of his official relay torch.

Long-time visitor Mr Goodhew, who has family links to the island, has just returned from duties in London as Olympic ambassador and deputy mayor of the Olympic Village.

He also carried the torch through the streets of Liskeard, Cornwall, on the first day of its journey across Britain.

He has now placed it into the temporary care of the Victoria Street Alderney Tourism office so visitors and locals can see and handle it.
