Using the key guideline of five GCSEs at A* to C including English and maths, La Mare achieved a provisional 42% pass rate, up from 11.5% in 2011.
St Sampsons achieved a 44% pass rate using that measure, up from 20.5%.
Extra resources were concentrated on the two schools after shock revelations about standards last year.
Les Beaucamps High had its best ever result, hitting a 52% pass rate of five GCSEs or above including English and maths.
The UK Government has a target of 40% including English and maths – if a school falls below that it is considered to be failing.
At Elizabeth College 95% achieved five or more passes at A* to C including English and Maths.
Ladies College pupils scored a 98.3% using that measure, The Grammar School 97.1% and Blanchelande 83%.
The College of Further Education said it was delighted that its full time students working at level 2 had achieved the a 99% pass rate.
