MAINTAINING GCSE success will be harder than turning around last year's disastrous results, the man whose sweeping reviews of local education drove its overhaul has warned.

Former head teacher Denis Mulkerrin, pictured, who produced two reviews of primary and secondary education following the results saga, was delighted that all Guernsey schools had exceeded UK minimum standards this year.

'The results are not just good this year, they are the best the States schools have achieved together ever,' he said.

'The issue now is to sustain this level. I speak from experience when I say that turning a school around is not difficult - keeping it up is much more of a challenge.'
