AN ABANDONED St Peter Port church, which has stood empty for more than 20 years, has finally been sold.

Ebenezer Church has been bought for £735,000 by Ebenezer Holdings.

Director Gary Munro did not wish to comment on the purchase of the Methodist building, which is on Brock Road.

But superintendent minister for the Guernsey Methodist circuit, the Rev. David Hinchliffe, said he had mixed feelings.

'On the one hand I'm sad to see the end of a significant chapter of the island's Methodist history but at the same time I'm relieved that the building will now be given a new lease of life,' he said.
