Miss Guernsey cancelled

THE Miss Guernsey competition has been cancelled due to a lack of interest, it has been announced.

A competition spokesman said, despite the competition not being held in 2011, insufficient entries had been received for this year's occasion.

The event, which is supported by locally brewed lager Breda and the Carlton Hotel, was due to take place on Sunday 14 October.

The spokesman said: ''Unfortunately, despite promotion in the media, it appears that the appetite among the public for the competition is small so it has been decided to shelve the competition for 2012 and review our position next year.'
