A FLOATING restaurant is joining a record number of restaurants to take part in Tennerfest for the first time this year.

The Commodore Clipper, the slow ferry which operates routes from Guernsey, will offer a three-course meal for £17.50 as part of the annual food promotion, which launches on Monday.

It is one of 186 restaurants across the Channel Islands – including 112 in Jersey alone – offering a Tennerfest menu between 1 October and 11 November.

Ged Kelly, a director of advertising and marketing agency Hamilton Brook, said that £20 menus did not detract from the spirit of Tennerfest.

He said: 'That was really because we talked to individual restaurants who told us that they were finding it increasingly difficult with inflation to deliver on quality and price.

'The Tennerfest covers everything from beach cafes up to Michelin-starred restaurants so it's very difficult for some of them to get involved and they asked us if we could include a new category, which we did because we didn't want to lose the higher-end restaurants.'
