School not told of bus change until too late
ENVIRONMENT will review procedures after parents were not told that their primary school children would be dropped off at a different bus stop to normal.
ENVIRONMENT will review procedures after parents were not told that their primary school children would be dropped off at a different bus stop to normal.
On Friday, a school bus operated by CT Plus dropped off around six young children at the busy L'Islet crossroads and left them with a woman who said she would make sure they got home safely.
'Having investigated this matter further, the department can confirm that CT Plus did contact Hautes Capelles School to notify them of the emergency closure of Route du Picquerel and, in particular, that the school bus would not be able to travel all of its normal route,' an Environment spokesman said.
'However, it would appear that due to operational pressures, this information was not relayed to the school until the afternoon, which resulted in the school not being able to contact parents before the end of the school day.'
'The department would once again like to apologise to the parents and children affected by this incident.'
