FINALISTS for Britain in Bloom began arriving in Guernsey yesterday.

Around 400 people representing 72 different communities in the British Isles are attending the national awards presentation on Saturday, this year hosted in the island.

The Bailiwick is represented by Herm this year in the coastal (up to 12,000 people) category.

There are 17 categories in all.

'We are extremely proud to host this prestigious national event during our 20th anniversary year,' said Floral Guernsey chairman Tony Spruce.

'Guernsey has been represented in Britain in Bloom for 12 years. We're delighted to welcome Bloom finalists to the island and have the opportunity to return the hospitality that other 'Bloom' communities have shown us over the years.'
