'One of the best days of my life'
BECOMING the first female Brit to win a WTA Tour singles title in 24 years was one of the best moments of her life, Guernsey tennis star Heather Watson said yesterday.

BECOMING the first female Brit to win a WTA Tour singles title in 24 years was one of the best moments of her life, Guernsey tennis star Heather Watson said yesterday.
The 20-year-old beat opponent Chang Kai-chen of Chinese Taipei 7-5 5-7 7-6 in the final of the HP Open in Osaka.
Following the match Miss Watson said she would be sleeping with a smile on her face, when interviewed by BBC Radio 5 live.
'The whole match from start to finish was so close and such a mental battle. Kai-chen was playing unbelievably and I just had to hang in there, she said.'
Culture and Leisure member Deputy Darren Duquemin said the island could be proud of Miss Watson's achievement.
